For most of my career, I thrived. I moved from industry to industry, taking my transferable skills with me and climbing the corporate ladder. I loved it—until I didn’t. It was in my mid-50s when the shift happened. I started to feel an emptiness that I couldn’t ignore. I was successful on paper, but inside, I wasn’t fulfilled.
I felt drained—like something was missing. I knew I was made for more, but I struggled with letting go. After all, this was the life I had worked so hard to build. How could I walk away?

Around that time, our son was away at university, my husband was working out of the Country, and I was sitting at home wondering, What’s next? I found myself longing for something more—something that was mine. I started questioning everything: Could I create a life where I was with my husband while he traveled? How could I still make time for our son? Could I shift from the career I’d spent years building into a life that truly made me happy?
And then, just as life does, it threw a curveball.
Six months into this new chapter, the company I worked for made some massive leadership changes. Colleagues I had spent years working with—brilliant, talented people—were being let go. The writing was on the wall, and I felt it. And you know what? I wasn’t even afraid anymore. I was ready to choose something different.
A friend had once told me, “When the company stopped valuing me, I asked to leave.” That hit me like a ton of bricks. I realized I had been feeling undervalued for a long time—at work, and even in my life. It was time for me to take control. So I did something bold: I asked for a package and left.
In that moment, I chose me. I valued me. And that one decision opened the door to the life I have now—one filled with passion, purpose, and prosperity.
